What ꛊ means
It writes one Bamum syllable, transcribed pe. Say p plus short e, close to the start of English “pet,” without the t.
King Ibrahim Njoya developed the script in Cameroon between 1896 and 1910; a dream apparently inspired his first idea. Picture-like signs for objects and actions served as memory aids, then evolved through six phases into A-ka-u-ku, named for its first four signs: a set where each sign writes one syllable. Vai writing, another West African script, may also have influenced it.

Questions people ask
1Why does ꛊ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
