What 𖥼 means
It is a letter from Phase E of the Bamum script.
Nshiee is the character's catalogue name, not an English translation. Surviving Bamum-script manuscript evidence dates to around 1897; Phase E came later, around 1908. Across its successive phases, Bamum writing shifted from picture-like signs toward more compact syllable-based writing.
King Njoya and royal advisers developed the script to record the Bamum language, history, and administration. Early signs drew on images and objects from local court life, then later revisions reshaped them. 𖥼 belongs to that changing writing system.
What does 𖥼 mean when someone sends it?
It points to historical Bamum writing or work about it.
Unicode 17.0 describes these historical Bamum Supplement forms as generally unused by most Bamum writers today; linguists and historians use them when working with earlier phases. In a message, it may appear in a transcription, lesson, archive, or heritage project.
Why can this letter fail to display?
Your font needs this historical Bamum character.
Without that glyph, a device or app may show an empty box or a fallback character. That is a font-support problem, not a different letter.
A modern Bamum keyboard may not include this Phase-E form. A Unicode-aware input method that accepts hexadecimal code points can enter U1697C; use a font with Bamum Supplement coverage to see it.
Historical and specialist; it can mark Bamum-language, archival, linguistic, or heritage material.
On its own, the letter does not tell a reader how to pronounce or interpret it.
