black leftwards bullet

Black Leftwards Bullet

⁌ is a left-pointing bullet used as a list marker; its wedge is part of the design, not a direction. A Middle Scots New Testament manuscript copied c. 1520 also uses it.

What ⁌ means

It introduces a list item or specially formatted passage. Its unusual pointed shape gives the marker a distinct typographic style.

Middle Scots is an older written form of Scots, the language of the manuscript. A 1901–05 printed edition reproduces the mark.

Specialized and typographic; suited to deliberately formatted text.

Its wedge can look directional; use an arrow for movement.

Why does ⁌ show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
