What ╡ means
A single vertical stroke meets a double horizontal stroke that extends left.
Box-drawing characters fit into equal-width text cells to make borders, tables, and terminal panels. This character-cell style was in use before Unicode, which includes the set for compatibility with older systems. The IBM PC character set CP437 mapped ╡ to byte B5; DEC Special Graphics was another line-drawing set used on VT100-era terminals.
A monospaced font keeps neighboring cells aligned. Proportional spacing, a missing glyph, or text decoded with the wrong encoding can break the junction.

3Questions people ask
1Why does ╡ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
