What Ꮃ means
It represents the syllable la; a word’s meaning comes from context.
Ꮃ is one sound-unit in Cherokee writing. Read it as la, then look at the surrounding Cherokee word for its meaning.
Sequoyah developed the Cherokee syllabary so Cherokee speech could be written with syllable signs. The earliest Red Bird River Shelter evidence is treated as experimental syllabary writing from the early nineteenth century. The syllabary was introduced in 1821, adopted by the Cherokee Nation in 1825, and printed in the Cherokee Phoenix in 1828.

1Why does Ꮃ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Cherokee block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
