What ⦷ means
Its reading depends on the source. In a historical edition of mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz’s writings, it points to another passage rather than marking an equation. A Unicode proposal published in 2025 documents that reference use in historical mathematical texts. A 2023 dictionary entry also lists a double-socket sign and an obsolete sodium symbol from chemist John Dalton’s early chemical notation; that form has lines touching the circle.
