CJK Compatibility Ideograph 2F810

兤 is a compatibility form of 兤, a Han character glossed as “bright.” It preserves a Taiwan CNS character-set entry during conversion, but normalization can turn it into 兤.

Text symbol

What 兤 means

It maps to 兤, a Han character glossed as “bright.” Taiwan’s Ministry of Education lists 兤 as a variant of 爌.

Jiyun, a Song-dynasty rhyme dictionary (arranged by sound), records this variant. The separate code supports round-trip conversion with Taiwan’s CNS 11643 character set.

Why does 兤 become 兤?

Normalization maps it to 兤. Normalization rewrites equivalent text into one standard Unicode form. The standardized sequence 兤︀ (兤 followed by selector UFE00) preserves the source-glyph distinction.

Technical and archival: it preserves one source-specific Han-character record.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 兤 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
