What 㓟 means
Normalization maps it to 㓟. The base character appears in Longkan Shoujing, a Chinese character dictionary compiled in 997 to help Buddhist readers understand texts. The 1716 Kangxi Dictionary, a Chinese character reference, cites the earlier Jiyun rhyme dictionary, which groups characters by sound, for “split or peel with a knife.” 㓟 preserves a separate mapping for round-trip conversion with Taiwan’s CNS 11643-1992 standard. NFC and NFD normalization replace it with 㓟, so normalized text may lose the distinct code point.
How can I specify its appearance?
Use the standardized sequence 㓟︀. Unicode defines 㓟 followed by the invisible variation selector UFE00 as the standardized sequence specifying 㓟’s intended glyph appearance.

Questions people ask
1Why does 㓟 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
