What 卿 means
It represents 卿, a character for high officials and respectful address.
In Mandarin, 卿 is read qīng and names a high official. Historical Chinese texts also use it to address a ruler’s minister, a respected peer, or a spouse. The addressee and passage determine which sense fits. Taiwan’s Ministry of Education lists 卿 as a variant of 卿, citing 類篇 (Leipian), a Chinese character dictionary completed in 1066.
Unicode maps 卿 canonically to 卿, so normalization—the process software uses to standardize equivalent text—can erase the source distinction. The separate code point lets software convert characters from numbered parts called planes 3–7 and 15 of Taiwan’s CNS 11643-1992 standard into Unicode and back without losing their source identity.

Questions people ask
1Why does 卿 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
