What 嵫 means
It is a variant of 嵫 with historical Chinese uses.
The base character appears in 崦嵫, a Gansu mountain said to be where the sun sets; Qu Yuan’s ancient poem Li Sao names it. Later idiom 日薄崦嵫 evokes old age or decline, while 嵫釐 means steep terrain. Taiwan’s CNS 11643 is a standard for encoded Chinese text, expanded in 1992. Taiwan raised the need for a Unicode compatibility block in 1999 so entries could convert both ways; 嵫 is CNS code 6-5233.
