What 殟 means
It is a compatibility form of 殟, not a separate everyday word.
Unicode keeps the mapping T6-5377 so CNS 11643-1992 text can round-trip without losing this glyph distinction. The base character 殟 appears in the classical Chinese poetry anthology Chu Ci with the older meaning “suddenly lose consciousness.”
NFKC/NFKD can fold 殟 to 殟. The sequence 殟︀ (U6B9F UFE00) marks the same variation with an invisible selector after 殟.
Reserve it for text that must preserve the CNS glyph mapping; ordinary writing uses 殟.

Questions people ask
1Why does 殟 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
