What ⺙ means
It marks the right-side “rap” radical in character references.
Radicals group dictionary entries. An inscription carved on bones for divination (rituals used to seek answers) from around 1250–1000 BCE shows 攴 as a hand holding a striking tool. Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese dictionary, glosses 攴 as “a small strike.”
Unicode connects ⺙ with , a radical in a traditional Chinese dictionary system, and with 攵, an ideograph used on character right sides.

1Questions people ask
1Why does ⺙ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Radicals Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
