cjk unified ideograph-203ee

Historical Chinese exchange character

1007/42720

𠏮 is an old Chinese character for trading or exchanging goods. It appears in Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary completed around 100 CE: one edition glosses it as “going round,” while other editions read “market.” The Qing-dynasty scholar Duan Yucai favored “market” and linked the character to exchange. A poem from the Tang dynasty uses 兌 for that sense; simplified Chinese writes it 兑.

Why does 𠏮 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
