What 𡂪 means
A Chinese phrase uses it for panting.
A Chinese character dictionary glosses 吱𡂪 as the look of panting. The Purple Hairpin, a stage play from the Ming dynasty, uses that phrase after describing a young woman running.
Why is 𡂪 doubled in Cantonese?
It spells the Cantonese particle by sound.
Cantonese learner handbooks from 1902 and 1912 use 𡂪𡂪 as a sound-based spelling for 啫. It is a small word at a sentence’s end that can mean “only” or “just”; 嘛嘛哋(𡂪𡂪) is glossed “only middling.”

1Why does 𡂪 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
