What 𡇝 means
A dictionary links it to 囱, used for “chimney” and “window.”
The Kangxi Dictionary, a Chinese character reference published in 1716, notes “sound of 宋” (Mandarin sòng) and cites 搜真玉鏡. A Japanese reading is also recorded: ソウ (sō).
The Hanyu Da Cidian, a Chinese dictionary, equates 𡇝 with 囱 and lists cōng and chuāng. Around 100 CE, the Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary, depicts 囱 as a line through an enclosure; its meaning later shifted from “window” to “chimney.”
Why might 𡇝 show as a box?
Your font may not contain this character.
Without a font that includes it, an app can show a missing-glyph box. As of 2026, Windows 10 and later include it in their default fonts, though an app can use a different font.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𡇝 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
