What 𢕟 means
Context decides: a form of “haughty” or part of a beast-name.
The Taiwan Ministry of Education’s variant dictionary lists 𢕟 as a form of 傲, the ordinary character for “proud” or “haughty.” The Shan Hai Jing (Classic of Mountains and Seas) uses it in the beast-name 𢕟𢓨; its Xishan Jing (Western Mountains) chapter describes a white, four-horned, ox-like beast with shaggy hair like a straw rain cape. Another spelling is 獓𤝱.

1Why does 𢕟 show as a box?
A box means your font may lack this rare glyph. Taiwan’s official Chinese-character database (CNS11643), checked on 2026-09-24, lists it in Windows 10 and later default 細明體 and 標楷體 fonts. Elsewhere, switch to a font that includes it or use the palette above.
