What 𢻬 means
It is a variant of 撫, read fǔ in Mandarin. Dictionaries gloss the verb as soothing or stroking.
The Shuowen Jiezi, an early character dictionary, records 𢻲 as another form. It treats 攴 as an action component and 亡 as a sound element. Chen Shu’s 2015 study proposed that a related graph in Warring States Chu slips of the Zhouyi (Book of Changes) wrote 喪, “loss”; this reading is disputed.
A dictionary-listed variant; modern Chinese ordinarily uses 撫 or 抚.
A box may mean the font or app lacks this glyph; the text can still contain 𢻬.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𢻬 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
