What 𣏜 means
It is an older form of 棉, now used for cotton.
A Yùpiān (玉篇) entry groups it with 棉 as a tree name; that Chinese character dictionary was first compiled in 543 and revised later. The 1615 dictionary 字彙 describes 木棉 as a tree whose flowers resemble silk floss and could be made into cloth. In 𣏜, 木 means “tree/wood”; 丏 signals Mandarin mián.
Mojikiban, Japan’s character database, lists it in family-register and land-registration indexes with the Japanese reading メン.
