What 𣠡 means
In HTML, use 𣠡; in JavaScript, use \u{23821}.
In a Python string literal, write \U00023821. In UTF-16, this supplementary ideograph occupies the two units D84E DC21; keep both 16-bit pieces together when counting or cutting text.
What does 𣠡 mean?
A rare form of 柚, the Chinese character for pomelo.
The older character 柚 is described in the Han dictionary Shuowen Jiezi, completed before 100 CE, as a tree like an orange with sour fruit. Its entry cites the classical phrase 橘柚, referring to packed citrus tribute.
The exact glyph 𣠡 appears in the Kangxi Dictionary of 1716 as the same form as 櫾. Dictionaries give two readings for 櫾: Mandarin yóu, for a long tree by a Kunlun river bend, and yòu, as a form of 柚 for pomelo. Let the historical source decide which sense applies.
Why does 𣠡 appear as a box?
Your font or text app may not support this glyph.
Unicode 18.0 says software may display a placeholder when a font or renderer cannot show an assigned character. The box does not mean the text contains another spelling: the underlying character can still be 𣠡.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𣠡 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
