What 𣧒 means
Older references link it to 舛; the 歿 link appears later.
𣧒 appears as a 舛 variant in a Tang-era character guide. Longkan Shoujian (龍龕手鑑), a dictionary compiled in 997 to clarify Buddhist texts, glosses it “damaged,” “used up,” or “lying opposite.” Here, 舛’s left part 夕 is written as 歹; its oldest explanation pictures people lying opposite ways.
A later Kangxi Dictionary links 𣧒 to 歿 (“to die”), but the cited entry does not support the equation. Later lexicons repeated it; read 歿 only when the source context supports it.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𣧒 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
