𣰬

cjk unified ideograph-23c2c

Variant of 纛

15405/42720

𣰬 is listed as a form of 纛 (Mandarin reading dú), a decorated banner used in imperial ceremony or war. A Chinese dictionary called the Kangxi Dictionary questions whether this exact written form is old, even though historical records describe the banner in imperial display.

What 𣰬 means

It is a doubtful dictionary form of 纛.

The 1716 Kangxi Dictionary defines 𣰬 as a banner, then says earlier character dictionaries do not contain this written form and suspects a later invention. The Later Book of Han, a history of the Han court, describes 纛 as a yak-tail ornament on an emperor’s carriage; the word also names a large military standard.
