The old gloss is “touch”; later sources add hand-plucking.
The Shuowen Jiezi (說文解字), an early Chinese character dictionary from 100–121 CE, glosses 㲳 as “to touch.” Later rhyme dictionaries, reference books arranged by sound, Guangyun (廣韻) and Jiyun (集韻), also give a reading meaning “pull something out by hand.”
