What 𣾻 means
Use a Unicode character map with code-point lookup. Enter U23FBB in its code-point field; typing the Vietnamese spelling chã produces Latin letters, not 𣾻.
If 𣾻 appears as a box, the font may lack this CJK Extension B glyph. The text still contains the character; the box is a missing display glyph.
What does 𣾻 mean?
In Vietnamese Chữ Nôm, 𣾻 is written for chã, liquid falling in a steady stream. It appears in lã chã, especially for tears or sweat falling steadily.
Chữ Nôm is the historical Vietnamese writing system that adapted Han characters to write Vietnamese. In 𣾻, the water radical signals the liquid sense; 啫 supplies the sound component.
Where does 𣾻 appear in older Vietnamese texts?
A 1902 version of Truyện Kiều records 𣾻 as chã. Truyện Kiều is a Vietnamese narrative poem; its version list has no 𣾻 entry in the 1866, 1870, 1871, or 1872 columns. Those comparisons date this written trail, not the character's origin.
Vietnamese Nôm records also use 渚, 𣼫, and 𤀞 for chã in lã chã; they are alternate spellings, not 𣾻 itself.
A historical, literary Vietnamese Chữ Nôm character, at home in writing about Vietnamese texts.
Its Han-character shape alone does not establish a Chinese reading; the reading described here is Vietnamese.
