What 𨛂 means
It writes 郯, the name of an ancient state.
The earliest written record of the state cited in Tancheng County history appears in the Spring and Autumn Annals, a chronicle of Lu: its 605 BCE entry says Lu and Qi tried to make peace between Ju and 郯. Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary completed around 100 CE, preserves a tradition that the state was granted to descendants of Shaohao, a legendary ruler. In standard 郯, 阝 marks a place and 炎 supplies the Mandarin sound tán.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𨛂 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
