Vietnamese dùi character

35833/42720

𨯸 is a chữ Nôm character for Vietnamese dùi, a tool to strike a drum or gong or pierce a hole. Chữ Nôm, Vietnam’s historical script, adapted Chinese-character forms to write Vietnamese; a 1209 inscription survives on a stele recut in the 18th century. An older linguistic study calls 1343 the earliest irrefutable evidence. Chữ Nôm later carried Vietnamese literature before the Latin-based quốc ngữ became everyday writing.

Why does 𨯸 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
