What 𨺠 means
The dictionary gloss is firmer than the disputed citation. In the Song dynasty, Jiyun, a reference book that groups Chinese characters by rhyme, glosses 𨺠 as 階也 (“stair”). A Mandarin pronunciation index lists its pinyin reading as shǔn; pinyin is the letter-based way to write Mandarin sounds. During the Qing dynasty, a note on Wenxuan (a classical Chinese anthology) says three earlier dictionaries lack the character and judges one poem annotation likely copied in error.

1Why does 𨺠 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
