What 𨾲 means
That identification is a later interpretation.
A 2008 interpretation links 鴸 with 丹朱 (Dan Zhu), a son of Yao, one of ancient China's legendary rulers. In that reading, Dan Zhu's spirit became a bird after death; the Classic of Mountains and Seas entry itself does not name 丹朱.
