What 𨿝 means
Read it as 雉: a pheasant, or an old wall measure.
In classical Chinese, 雉 also named a city-wall measure: one 雉 was three zhang long and one zhang high; zhang is a traditional Chinese unit of length. The Han-era dictionary Shuowen Jiezi (completed around 100 CE) describes several kinds of pheasant and records an older form built with 弟. 𨿝 keeps 弟 beside 隹, the bird component. Japanese kanji references also give this exact form the reading kiji (“pheasant”).
Why does 𨿝 appear as a box?
A missing-glyph box means the font or app cannot render it.
𨿝 belongs to CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B. If the selected font lacks its glyph, a box or generic missing mark may appear; that is a display failure, not a different character. Use a font and app with Extension B coverage when you need its exact shape.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𨿝 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
