What 𩜈 means
𩜈 is an older written form of 飫, a character for formal feasting.
Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary, explains 𩜈 through a ruler’s banquet for members of his own clan. It also cites the Classic of Poetry, an ancient Chinese poetry collection, in a line about drinking wine.
Later records under 飫 extend the sense to feasting, eating one’s fill, a formal rite, and a reward. In a historical quotation, 𩜈 carries the feast sense; it is not a routine modern spelling.
Why can 𩜈 display as a box?
The font may not contain a glyph for 𩜈.
A missing glyph may appear as a square, a question-mark box, or blank space. 𩜈 is plain text, so a substitute mark reflects font coverage, not a different character.
A character map or input method that accepts Unicode code points or rare CJK characters can enter it; the receiving font still needs to support the glyph.
Classical and philological: it belongs in historical quotations or discussion of old Chinese forms.
A blank or box is a font failure, not another character.
