Mule character variant

39356/42720

𩦻 is a variant of 騾, the Chinese character for a mule; in Mandarin, 騾 is pronounced luó. A mule is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. 騾 is standard in traditional Chinese; 骡 in simplified Chinese. Shuowen Jiezi (a Chinese character dictionary completed around 100 CE) records 驘 for the same animal; Zhengzitong (1671) calls 𩦻 its original form of 驘.
