What 𩯄 means
The Yùpiān points to a bare crown; Guǎngyùn, to hair hanging loose.
The Kangxi dictionary attributes “no hair on top of the head” to the Yùpiān, an early Chinese character dictionary compiled in 543. Guǎngyùn, a Chinese dictionary that groups characters by rhyme, was compiled in 1007–1008 and glosses 𩯄 as hair hanging loose.
Why can its shape vary across fonts?
Chinese, Japanese, and Korean fonts can draw it differently. The Unicode 13.0 Extension B reference chart says its sample glyphs are not prescriptive; actual font shapes can vary.

1Why does 𩯄 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
