What 𩸮 means
It writes Vietnamese bống, a goby.
Chữ Nôm is a historical Vietnamese script adapted from Chinese characters and their parts to write Vietnamese speech. It developed gradually after 939. Here, the left component 魚 means “fish.”
The 1914 collection Nam quốc phương ngôn tục ngữ bị lục records “Bống có gan bống, bớp có gan bớp,” literally “The goby has the goby’s liver; the bớp has the bớp’s”; here, bớp is another fish. It means each has its own strengths. A Japanese reference dictionary classifies the form as kokuji (a Japanese-made character) and gives kawahio for a young sweetfish.
A historical character of Vietnamese Nôm writing.
Do not assume a Japanese fish-name reading means Vietnamese bống.

1Why does 𩸮 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
