What 𩻷 means
It names fish roe before hatching or a very small fish. The Erya, an early Chinese glossary, defines 鱦 as “small fish.”
A commentary on Erya records a Jiangdong use (east of the Yangtze): 鱦 for fish eggs before hatching.
Is 𩻷 a variant of 鱦?
Yes; older dictionaries link the forms. The Kangxi Dictionary entry for 𩷼 cites the Zhengzitong, another Chinese dictionary, for 𩻷 as its original form. Later Chinese character references also group 𩻷 with 鱦.

1Why does 𩻷 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
