𩾮 is a historical written form of 鴢, an old Chinese bird-name. The Song-era dictionary Liushu Gu records that equivalence. A commentary to the Erya, a classical Chinese glossary, describes 鴢頭 as a duck-like waterbird; the Classic of Mountains and Seas, a premodern Chinese work of geography and marvels, tells of a blue-bodied, red-eyed, red-tailed 鴢 on Mount Qingyao whose flesh was said to help people have children.
