What 𩿍 means
It is a rare form of 鴟, read chī in Mandarin. In old Chinese usage, 鴟 names a hunting bird such as a kite or hawk; older bird names also use it for owl-like birds.
The Tang dynasty spelling manual 《干禄字书》 lists 𩿍 alongside 鸱 for this bird name. It is a written variant, not a separate creature.
The Kangxi Dictionary (1716) says a line in Zhang Chao’s 《誚青衣賦》, a literary essay, should have 鴟: there, 𩿍 and then 䲻 are copying errors. Check the passage before assuming a particular occurrence was deliberate.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𩿍 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
