What 𩿝 means
The earliest cited dictionary is Longkan Shoujing. Taiwan’s Ministry of Education’s 2024 entry also cites Jiyun, a Chinese rhyme dictionary, for the Mandarin reading jù and the broad gloss “a bird name.” Longkan Shoujing was completed in 997 to help readers understand characters in Chinese Buddhist texts. The same 2024 entry says the earlier Shuowen Jiezi dictionary omits 𩿝 and gives no particular bird species.
