What 𪀦 means
It names a water bird in older Chinese. The Shuowen Jiezi, an early character dictionary, records 谿𪀦 in a later-added entry. The dictionary analyzes it as 鳥 (“bird”) plus 式, which supplies the sound rather than a second meaning.
Later dictionaries link 𪀦 with 鷘; the bird name also appears as 鸂鷘 or 鸂鶒. In Ming and Qing China, its image marked civil rank on embroidered robe badges: ranks six and seven under the Ming, rank seven under the Qing.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𪀦 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
