What 𪃈 means
A waterbird in the duck group.
The Shuowen Jiezi, a Chinese character dictionary completed in 100 CE, places it in the 鳧 group, an old category of ducks and related waterfowl. It treats 鳥 (“bird”) as the meaning part and 契 as a sound clue.
A commentary cites it in Zhang Heng’s Nandu Fu, a literary account of Nanyang, among a list of birds.
