What 𪅟 means
An old bird name. The Eastern Han character dictionary Shuowen Jiezi (“Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters,” compiled 100–121 CE) records 𪅟 with the broad gloss “bird.” Later glosses link it to 庸渠, a water bird, and describe it as duck-like with chicken-like feet. In the written form, 鳥 means “bird,” while 庸 is the sound component: it hints at the character’s pronunciation.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𪅟 show as a box?
A font without CJK Extension B coverage may show a missing-glyph box for this character. That is a display limitation, not a different reading; try a Han-character font that supports the block.
