Historical variant of 接

41563/42720

𪉚 is a historical variant of 接 (Mandarin jiē), the Chinese character for “join” or “receive.” It is recorded in the Longkan Shoujian, a dictionary completed in 997; the earlier Shuowen Jiezi gives 接 its basic sense, “to join.” This rare historic character may need an Extension B font to display.

What 𪉚 means

Read it as 接: “join” or “receive.” The Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese dictionary, gives 接 the root sense “to join.” The later Longkan Shoujian files 𪉚 under 接. In later examples, standard 接 also means linking, accepting, welcoming, or taking over; these added senses belong to 接, not to a different meaning for the variant.
