What 𪌯 means
Small pieces of wheat grain.
The Buddhist character dictionary Longkan Shoujian records 𪌯 as 麥屑 (“small wheat fragments”) in 997. The Guangyun, a Chinese dictionary arranged by sound and rhyme, gives the same gloss around 1008. The 1716 Kangxi Dictionary cites the Yu Pian (compiled in 543) for a link to 𪍛. Qing-era notes by Duan Yucai on the Shuowen Jiezi describe it as the kernel-like center of fine wheat fragments, parsing 麥 as meaning and 肖 as sound.
