𪌿

cjk unified ideograph-2a33f

Han character 𪌿

41792/42720

𪌿 is an alternate written form of 䭃, a Chinese word for a kind of cake. A Yuan-printed edition of the dictionary Yupian records both forms; Song-dynasty Chinese dictionaries gloss the 麥 (“wheat”) spelling as “cake.” The Qing-dynasty Kangxi Dictionary links 䭃頭, a steamed cake, with 捻頭, another name for it; a Tang-era Buddhist text also lists the pastry among foods prepared as an offering.

Why does 𪌿 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
