What does 𪏯 mean?
It is a variant of 黎 (lí). The Shuowen Jiezi, a Chinese character dictionary compiled between 100 and 121 CE, defines 黎 as sticky millet paste used to fasten a shoe sole. The millet component points to that ingredient.
The base character 黎 appears in Qin-era stone and bamboo writing. The separate form 𪏯 is listed as its variant in Yu Pian (around 543 CE) and Longkan Shoujian (997 CE). Its shape is a shortened, slightly altered descendant of 黎’s seal-script form, an older formal Chinese writing style.
By around 543 CE, dictionaries also record “many” for 黎; a traditional note says that sense displaced the older shoe-adhesive meaning. The Warring States period text Xunzi, a Chinese philosophical work, uses 黎黑 for a darkened complexion. 黎 also came to mean “the people.”
Why does 𪏯 show as a box?
A font or app may lack this glyph. Windows 7 added CJK Extension B fonts such as SimSun-ExtB and MingLiU-ExtB. If it appears as a box, switch to a font with this exact character; the text itself remains 𪏯.

1Why does 𪏯 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
