What 𪔃 means
It names the wooden bar used to lift a ritual ding.
A ding (鼎) is a three-legged bronze vessel used in rites. The earliest dictionary account is in the Shuowen Jiezi, an Eastern Han dictionary: it defines the corresponding form as a wooden bar passed horizontally through the ding’s ears so it can be lifted.
Later dictionaries may gloss 𪔃 as 鼏, but the ritual distinction is bar versus cover. The Shuowen seal-script tradition also gives 𠕪 for this definition. In ritual writing, 扃 can name the lifting bar too; 鉉 is another related name, not the same character.
Someone sent me 𪔃—what should I read?
Read it as a reference to a historical Chinese character.
An isolated message does not show which historical dictionary sense the sender intends. Ask whether they mean the ding-lifting bar, a quotation from a classical text, or a discussion of character forms; if they give no context, ask for a gloss.
Scholarly and historical: it points to classical character study or descriptions of ritual ding vessels.
A reader may mistake the lifting bar for 鼏, the vessel’s cover.
