What 𪗇 means
It names the navel, the small scar left where the umbilical cord joined the body.
Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary compiled around 100 CE, analyzes 𪗇 with 肉 (“flesh/body”) for meaning and 齊 for sound. Taiwan’s Ministry of Education lists it as an old variant of standard form 臍.
Use 𪗇 when quoting or studying older character forms; write 臍 in Traditional Chinese or 脐 in Simplified Chinese for ordinary modern text.

Questions people ask
1What does 噬臍莫及 mean?
It means regret comes too late. The Zuo Zhuan, completed by about 300 BCE, gives an earlier warning in the form 噬齊, literally “bite the navel”; the later set phrase is 噬臍莫及. The impossible image means the chance to act has already passed.
