What 𪚓 means

Different dictionary traditions preserve different readings.

The 11th-century Daguang yihui Yupian dictionary files it under the dog index. Song-era Jiyun, a pronunciation-and-rhyme dictionary, calls it “an animal name”; Ming-era glossaries specify a shaggy dog. In Vietnamese Chữ Nôm, the traditional character script, Trần Văn Kiệm’s dictionary lists it for rồng (“dragon”) and thuồng luồng, a legendary water serpent.

1

Why does 𪚓 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
