What 𪳤 means
Its Japanese and Old Zhuang readings differ. The writing tradition identifies which applies.
The plant-name predates the character record: the Kojiki, an early Japanese chronicle (712), glosses poetic 山たづ with the spelling 造木. The character dictionary Shinsen Jikyō (c. 898–901) later lists 𪳤 under that gloss and also uses 造木 for the Japanese privet shrub, so early plant references vary.
Use the writing tradition to choose the reading; Japanese and Old Zhuang do not share one gloss.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𪳤 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension C block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
