What 𪿙 means
It labels lime in betel chewing.
Historical Vietnamese Chữ Nôm combined Chinese characters with local forms; it was used from around the 10th through 20th century. A Hán Nôm dictionary lists 𪿙 for vôi and in “chìa vôi,” a tool for applying lime to betel.
Hồ Xuân Hương’s late 18th- to early 19th-century “Mời ăn trầu” (“Invitation to Chew Betel”) says “Đừng xanh như lá bạc như vôi” (“Don’t be green like leaves, pale like lime”), comparing betel leaf with lime. Betel chewing combines leaf, areca nut, and lime.
Does it have a different Mandarin reading?
Yes, a dictionary records Mandarin tàn in Taiwanese names.
The entry tentatively connects it to 炭 (“charcoal”); it does not establish a general Chinese reading.

1Why does 𪿙 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
