What 𫄟 means
Read it as a textile name.
𫄟 is a rare simplified form of 絁, read shī in Mandarin; the older word means coarse silk cloth.
Where does 絁 appear in older dress records?
It appears in clothing descriptions and dress rules.
A Qing-era description says the coarse cloth could be made into a headcloth worn beneath a ceremonial cap. The New Book of Tang, a history of the Tang dynasty, lists 絁 as clothing material for officials outside the formal rank system, commoners, and enslaved people. Silla, a Korean kingdom, also names it in dress rules under King Heungdeok.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𫄟 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
