What 𫎏 means
Its gloss points to looking; the poem's reading is disputed. A Ming-era commentary on the Book of Songs—an old Chinese poetry collection—explains the scene: the speaker longs to reach someone far away, but the servant and horse are too ill to continue. Its note says the Erya quotes the passage with 𫎏 and glosses it as “looking far away.”
The poem text in that commentary reads 吁, which the commentator explains as a sorrowful sigh. Qing-era scholar Dai Zhen argued that 吁 was a copying error for 盱, “opening the eyes to look,” citing parallel Book of Songs lines about looking for someone unseen. Another Erya gloss gives 盱 a sense of worry, so the lament reading belongs to the text’s history too.

1Why does 𫎏 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
